The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Beth Maleski.  She thanked Dr. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant for printing the program books for the Lambda State convention.  She also thanked the meeting chairperson, Barb Conway and the hostesses: Jean Hatzis, Myrita Parker, Barb Ott, and Theresa Ruseff

Barb Conway gave us the Thought for the Day.

The minutes of the last meeting were approved with one minor change.

Kathy Hermansen received some correspondence about the November 26  99thbirthday for Gleadis Young.  We are urged to send her cards.  Her address is in the chapter yearbook.

The treasurer’s report was read by Kathy Zeller in JoAnn Drake’s absence.  We had a total income of $2,643.67 for the last month and expenses of  $332.48.  The balance in checking is $2,311.19.  The Jeanette Drake Memorial Fund C.D. is $3,973.79.

Committee Reports:  Veronica Bolero pointed out how important it is for all of us to vote no on the Constitutional Convention issue.  We also need to let all our friends know how important it is to vote no.  This would give the state of Illinois the power to change how retirement systems are handled.

New Business:  Marge Mostyn announced the first meeting of the writing group for Beta Rho.  It will meet on October 24 at Lewis University at 4:00 p.m.  Also Rae Hinton sent a get well card from Beta Rho to Sherry Engledow.

Other announcements included Bridge at Debbie Habas’s home on October 9, the Creative Arts Retreat on October 10-12, and our next Chapter meeting on November 11.  Remember to bring cash or your check book.  This is the auction.

The split the pot  drawing was held and Debbie Habas won $20.00, Kay Fox won $10.00, and Rae Hinton won $7.00.  A total of $37.00 was added to the income for this month.

The business meeting was closed by the singing of the Delta Kappa Gamma song.

Then the President turned the meeting over to Marge Mostyn and Margaret Juraco, who showed us how to make a mandala–a most interesting program.

Respectfully submitted,
