from the Membership Committee

Our April meeting will serve as an Orientation and Initiation for our newly elected members, Dr. Sheila Kennedy, Associate Professor of English, Lewis University; Michelle Cappel, elementary teacher at Edna Keith School in Joliet; and Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, Regional Superintendent of Schools for Will County. Initiation is a special ceremony and we hope many of our members will attend and welcome our new members. The Orientation is a great way to recall the many aspects of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Beta Rho Literacy Project

We will have our last Shop and Share Days with Jewel-Osco on April 14, 15, and 16. I will have coupons for you at our meeting on April 2 or you can print a coupon from the newsletter. This project will support the Penny Severns Summer Family Literacy Program. For the eighth year, a special $250,000.00 appropriation by the General Assembly in honor of the late state Sen. Penny Severns of Decatur was granted to the Illinois State Library. The final report revealed that 56 projects served 1,497 adults and 2,551 children. Share the coupons with your friends so Beta Rho can support this worthwhile project. Chapters are urged to donate $1.00 per member. With everyone’s help, we will be able to meet this goal. Thanks so much!
